Laura Lempke
Laura Lempke was born and raised in Indiana. She majored in studio art at DePauw University with a concentration in sculpture. She first began creating jewelry when she attended a Silversmithing class at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico; she later followed that experience up with a study abroad program in Cortona, Italy where she studied jewelry making and stone carving. Her work is mostly figurative with a tendency towards abstraction. She focuses on clean lines in balanced and high contrast images. Her media include jewelry (silver and copper), painting (oil and watercolor), drawing (ink), and stone carving. In 2008 she, along with her mother, Lucinda, and sister, Alexis, opened a small jewelry and fine art gallery in Franklin, TN called Adornments.
