2009-04: April Meeting
Call to Order: The April meeting was called to order by President, Ken White.
New Member Applications: The members reviewed the work of an applicant seeking membership, D. Bruce Curry. After discussion and voting, the membership accepted the applicant.
Exhibitions: Vice-President Garry Hornbuckle discussed the possibility of exhibiting at the Nashville Airport. The call for artists there has a very short due date, and would require a specific lay-out plan with images, exact sizes of each piece displayed and bios of each artist participating. Due to the complicated submission requirements, we voted to postpone application until next year.
Website: Garry reviewed the new website, which is up and working. We have had over 22,000 visitors to date. The address is www.nashvilleartistguild.org. The old address (www.nashvilleartistguild.com) is now forwarding to this new site.
Garry will schedule a training session for members, and will conduct that training yearly. Members will be required to attend before being given the password that will allow them to manage their own images and bios. If you have not done so, please prepare a short bio, only seven to ten sentences for the website. You might discuss (briefly) your medium, your central themes, and answer the question, “Who is this person?” Send it as a text email, along with 6 images of 400-600 pixels each and a link to your personal website if you have one, to Garry.
If you need assistance with digital images of your work or digital images from slides of your work, please contact Garry or Chris Parachek Marshall.
Minutes: The Minutes for April 2009, having been distributed by email, were approved with one correction. It was originally written that Ken White conducted the March meeting, and it was, in fact, Garry Hornbuckle who lead us in March.
Treasurer's Report: Rosanne Awbrey, gave the report of expenses and revenues.
New Business: A Nominating Committee has been set up for the coming year. Members are Vinci Kolodziejski, Dawn Hale and Rosanne Awbry. The slate of nominees is still incomplete at this time, and will be presented next month.
Ken White discussed upcoming programs. Each member is asked to suggest 2 program ideas for the coming year.
Special Note: The May meeting will be on May 3rd, due to Mothers’ Day.
Program: Our program for April was a critique for members. 4 members brought art to be critiqued. In May, we will again have a critique for members interested in feedback. Each critique will take 7-10 minutes. If you are interested in bringing 1 piece for critique, please notify Garry Hornbuckle.
