Patsy Sharpe

At the age of 48, Patsy Sharpe decided to do what she had always wanted to do, pursue a career in art.  Enrolling in college took courage but, Patsy Sharpe found her true calling.  Being a nature lover and painting what she loves has been a great joy as she continues to learn and work everyday to better her skill.  Being a watercolorist primarily, Sharpe's goal is to create beauty and uplift the spirit of those who view her work.  Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary can be both interesting and breathtaking and looking at the world from a different angle will always be interesting.

Jan Speer paints to share her joy of putting color on surfaces. Drawing and other types of creative work inspire a desire to do more, and to learn to do it better while enjoying the process. Over the years she has spent time doing needlework, making clothes for her children, and working in stained glass. Making any kind of art gives her a sense of “this is what I am meant to do”.

Jan Speer grew up in the Chicago area, majored in fine arts/painting while attending University of Illinois.  Unable to finish due to finances, she worked at various jobs that exercised her creative talents.  She worked in flower shops; which taught her to consult and plan flowers for weddings and events, make corsages and arrangements, and put together orders for Christmas and Easter plants.   Over the years there were many moves, but she found HOME in Franklin, Tennessee.  For nearly 25 years, she worked at local jewelry stores, learning about repairs, gemstones, mountings, and most anything related to jewelry.

Now retired, Ms. Speer enjoys many hours each week painting and taking workshops. Experiences include two one- week sessions at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in East Tennessee, a painting trip to Italy, plein aire class in Gatlinburg/Smokey Mountain National Park, painting classes at Owls’ Hill, a plein aire class at Studio 521, and on-going workshops by two amazing local artists.  Regular sessions with other accomplished painters who encourage and critique each other fills out her arts schedule.

Jan Speer has joined a few art organizations and exhibitions to meet, share and learn from other artists.  Below are a few exhibitions in her resume:

Sandy C. Spain

Sandy C. Spain

I am grateful to be able to share the beauty of everyday life, through vibrancy of color and intense movement, with those that appreciate the aesthetic qualities Art has to enrich our individual lives. I give you a glimpse of my world, where bold strokes and abstract impressions, created by the emotions of color sets the stage for a journey across the canvas. Each painting begins with a personal expression of feelings and the colors collide to form my story. It is a thoughtful process with the lines, the shapes, the splashes of colors and the sense of motion, searching for happiness, meaning, and that spiritual connection, same as a line in a poem or the melody of a song gives us." -S.Cooper Spain
Award winning artist, Sandy Spain paints with her heart when putting her emotions on canvas. Utilizing acrylics in unrealistic but vivid colors, as well as the softer values,  her paintings show her passion. Her talent is enhanced by the enjoyment she receives from the creative process and the emotional response that it generates from the viewer, be it Abstraction or Traditional.
Ms. Spain has works in private collections throughout the United States, Switzerland, Norway, Canada, Austria, and Germany.
Presently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.

Mary Miller Veazie

Mary paints throughout the United States, and lives in Tennessee. Well known for her commissioned portraits in oil, Mary’s objective is to convey the spirit and personality of her subjects, while maintaining an accurate and convincing likeness. Utilizing a strong design framework, beautiful harmonic color, and masterful paint application, Mary connects with the viewer by creating powerfully expressive paintings designed to become family treasures.

To keep her approach and technique fresh, Mary enjoys switching between painting disciplines. She has created a body of work that reflects her love of landscape and figure in a series featuring birds.  A recent exploration into non-objective painting has taken Mary back to her abstract roots. These paintings, distilled to the essence of color and shape allow the viewer to create their own narrative. Mary continues to work on her “Moody Florals” which combine figurative and abstract painting techniques to present a fresh approach to traditional still life paintings.

Mary is an award-winning painter and has exhibited in many national and regional group shows. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the National Portrait Society, American Impressionist Society, American Woman Painters, The Chestnut Group and the Woman Painters of the Southeast.  Mary’s work is in the permanent collection of Blackberry Farm, Walland, TN, Vanderbilt's Monroe Carrell Children's Hospital, St Thomas Hospital Rutherford, TN, Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, TN. Welch Road Pediatrics, Palo Alto, CA and the Brentwood Academy, Nashville, TN. Mary’s work can be viewed at Bennett Galleries in Nashville, TN, the Wild Hope Gallery in Alpharetta, GA, Ellis Nicholson Gallery in Charleston, SC, All About Art Gallery in Hendersonville, TN, the Peddler in Murfreesboro, TN, The District Gallery in Knoxville, TN.

In addition to painting, Mary teaches workshops with an emphasis on design, technique, and color. She finds it extremely rewarding to be able to paint and to share her knowledge and love of painting with others. "I am truly blessed to have a profession that gives me great joy,” says Mary.

Besides painting, there is almost nothing I like better than traveling and seeing the various parts of the world.  I photograph what I like best, to help me remember the feelings, colors and inspiration that envelope me when I experience the sights and sounds of an experience.  Then, using my memory and the photographs I have taken, I want to recreate it on canvas for others to share.  A photograph is impersonal while painting is a very personal, sensual expression.  Mountains, water, a perfect flower, or different cultures are inspiring for representational or abstract art.  Creating art is a spiritual experience for me as I try to represent my feelings through color and design.
